Where the tastiest watermelon is?

If you visit Mongolia and ask the people you meet “Where the tastiest watermelon is?” they will all say “in Khovd province”. Yes, as you may have heard, the tastiest Mongolian watermelon is the Khovd country watermelon.

Watermelon grows better in sandy soil. In feature of geography, Khovd has a combination of desert and forest. There are four seasons in a year and the climate is very hot in summer and very cold in winter.

Harvest once a year. Planting starts from May and harvest starts from the middle of August. Of course, it is most delicious and most organic because no chemical fertilizers are used and it grown in natural nutrient soil.

I will talk here about the watermelons grown in Bulgan soum of Khovd province. Bulgan soum is one of the a village in the Khovd province about 1500km away from the capital of Ulaanbaatar city and has a paved road, it takes about 18 hours by car, which is a half day.

While on the way, can see beautiful nature and can visit villages along the way. And will pass through the majestic gorge the called of “Bodonchiin khavtsal”.

Writing this am I, as someone who grew up here, can confidently say that “ it is so delicous”. I tasted a number of county’s watermelon and there was no delicious watermelons that like a watermelons of Bulgan soum. Then I wanted to make it known to so many people in the world.

Bulgan soum watermelon is reddish pink and sweet when ripe. And there is also a yellow watermelons.

Isn’t it a little unfortunately that to go so far to taste watermelon only?

So you can be tasted melons, apples, peaches and seaberry in addition to watermelons on farmland. Melons are mouth-wateringly sweet and soft. It is a rare luxury taste. In addition, there are dairy products such as handmade cheese, gee, yogurt, milk vodka and so on.
